A Cotton Dress for Bella: Vintage McCall 7977

This is a great pattern--you can choose a skirt cut on the straight grain or on the bias. And leaving off the huge pockets, I squeezed it out of two and a half yards (still wondering why I bought so little!). I also like that your dress totally depends on your fabric choice. Fresh cotton print? A casual morning or house dress. Rayon or silk? Add little gloves and go to a shower.

We're staying home and making peach pie in this version.

Very cute! How are y'all so skinny! Green with envy here as I have gained 50 pounds since ankle surgery and I was already 20 pounds overweight. I thought maybe it was genetic, though I know you run yet you eat pies. Apparently not.

That's a lovely design! Her collar doesn't look as wide as the sketch on the envelope - did you have to alter it?

So it's the dress we've seen a sneak peek of! I like the huge orange buttons mirroring the orange in the print. It's details like that that make your creations what they are (what we all admire).

a very classy look for a young lady.

What I meant was the neckline - not the collar, per se.

Oh, so pretty. Your work is just amazing!

Lisa, I think you're right that the dress looks different from the illustration. I didn't mess with the neckline, and it's not as low as in the picture. That would have been a tricky alteration.

Anna, is there some way to find this pattern, or is just a stroke of luck that you stumbled upon this during one of your thrifting days? I tried online, but maybe I just don't know where/how to find it...we love the pattern :)
Thanks, Kathy

An online search is my best advice--it will probably pop up eventually. Good luck!
