The White Oak Turns Red

Already my favorite trees, the white oaks around my house are now more glorious than ever, redder than I have ever seen them. Our fall color is just peaking now, and it was worth the wait.

What a gorgeous photo! Reminds me of the "Ents".

Here in Minnesota our trees are bare....and snow is in the atmosphere...but that doesn't keep my husband and 15 year old daughter from faithfully running together....I prefer to stay home and prepare something to warm them up when they return. :)
I think I probably should have done a little more yard work today....while I could still see the ground.....

So that's what those trees in the pasture behind me are. I knew they were oaks but they are probably white oaks. They are turning a gorgeous color of red right now, and I take a picture of one in particular every year when I am blown away by it's beauty. LOL The pictures probably all look identical. The ornamental pears along our road are a beautiful deep red right now too. Also, the leaves that were yellow are now a glowing pumpkin soup color. It is so interesting to observe the different phases of color as fall moves along!

Ours are just hitting their stride, just in time for Thanksgiving. Love it every single time I drive through the country, getting to see their display.
